A Big and Beautiful WWI Mahogany and Copper display propeller for the Classic Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" with the Curtiss OX-5 engine in Very Good Condition.
This wonderful propeller features 6 laminations of Mahogany, excellent copper edges, engravings, beautiful wood grain and finish. The 8 bolt holes match the Curtiss OX-5 engine (water-cooled 8 cylinder making 90HP). We believe this propeller was manufactured around 1916-19. The Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" was the classic training aircraft of WWI and the premier barnstorming aircraft after the war. The "witness marks" around the hub show that this was a flown propeller (not surplus).
Engravings: C 226 1 2
Condition: Very nice for a near 100 year old propeller. Excellent copper edges, no rot, some delamination at the hub, a few scratches, wonderful wood grain, Excellent finish. This propeller displays beautifully.
Dimensions: Length 96" Hub Width 7 3/4" Hub thickness 4"
The aircraft pictured is a Curtiss JN-4 with the Curtiss OX-5 engine, dated 1919. On display at the National Air and Space Museum, Dulles, Virginia.
A Wonderful Propeller for a Classic WWI aircraft for your Home, Office, Hangar or Collection.
